Mima

Mima is a Mediterranean concept focused on the flavors of the Eastern Mediterranean. Traditional dishes are presented here with love and respect for their origins, wrapped in a modern twist.

In collaboration with Horeca Totaal Bouw and the visual design by Ninetynine, we realized the interior of their location in De Pijp, Amsterdam. This is the second branch of Mima. The interior design and its execution were carefully aligned with the vision of the owners, Marc and Michiel, who have ambitious growth plans for their business.

Our engineers created the interior elements in a modular way so that they can be easily adapted for multiple unique locations. By considering this from the start, we ensure a consistent look and feel, as well as (cost) efficiency in engineering and production, and a shortened construction time for future locations.

The interior design features a variety of high-quality materials such as terrazzo, oak, and metal. Terrazzo is used in the counter, service unit, and tables. This unique material was custom-made, allowing for variations in shapes and sizes of the tabletops.

A striking design element is the large soffit above the working area behind the counter. This makes the high ceiling of the space feel much less overwhelming. The soffit has rounded corners and is finished in a soft pink hue, contributing to a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
Additionally, we integrated a white metal tubular frame as both a display and service area for the crockery. A fun detail is that the vertical tubes of this frame are rotated 45 degrees in relation to the horizontal tubes, giving it a playful, dynamic look.
