A spacious kitchen to live, cook, and share
Living Kitchen LN
Boxtel, The Netherlands
By extending the entire rear side of this home, space was created for a spacious living kitchen and a master bedroom on the ground floor. Redie was involved from the very beginning and, in close collaboration with the residents, realized the custom-made built-in furniture. The result is an interior that is not only stylish but also practically designed—down to the smallest details.
The eye-catcher in the living kitchen is the generous cooking island, equipped with a hob with integrated extraction, a sink unit, and a Quooker in Gunmetal color. At the rear of the island, a raised seating area was designed, which is not only functional but also adds a playful, layered effect to the whole.
This raised seating area is finished with a slatted wall in dark oak and features copper-colored accents. This creates a warm color combination with the chosen light pink bar stools. Redie carefully took the seating height of the stools into account when designing this part of the island.
Power outlets have been integrated in various places throughout the island and the cabinet wall—subtly out of sight, without compromising functionality.
As an extension of the kitchen, Redie created an extra-long, custom-made dining bench. Here, too, the dark oak slatted wall and copper-colored accents reappear, just like in the raised seating area of the island. This connects the kitchen, dining area, and seating area, blending everything into a cohesive whole.
The kitchen effortlessly accommodates a large group, while still remaining warm and well-organized for the family—without making you feel lost in the space.
In the adjoining master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, two open walk-in wardrobes with practical layouts were created—one for him and one for her. They feature tip-on drawers, generous hanging space, open shelves, and adjustable shelving. The open design without doors was a conscious choice for ease of daily use.
Custom solutions were also chosen in the bathroom. The washbasin cabinet runs seamlessly from wall to wall and is finished with a moisture-resistant MDF top in oak HPL. It includes two spacious drawers (his and hers). The drawer layout was carefully tailored to the siphons of the two washbasins, which were supplied by the homeowners themselves.
Designing together, realizing together.
