A familiar atmosphere in a new look

Charlots' Delicatessen

Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands

This is not the first time we have had the opportunity to create an interior for Charlots' Delicatessen.

In 2015, we created the interior for their characteristic shop in Hilvarenbeek. In August 2026, Charlots moved to larger premises. Once again, they placed their trust in us.

This time, we were involved from the very first idea, with Redie creating the complete interior design.

More space, the same atmosphere

The new location, a former restaurant, offered more space for the shop as well as room for hospitality. At the same time, this presented a challenge. The authentic atmosphere of the old shop had to remain tangible in the larger premises.

That is why we looked beyond the interior elements alone. Space, routing and sightlines were an important part of the design. On our advice, existing walls were opened up. This kept the shop clear and easy to navigate, connected the different spaces and ensured that the characteristic staircase remained visible.

Cheese as part of the interior

The large cheese display continues above a passageway, connecting the different spaces. The shop now also features a large display wall in the same style as the cheese display. This not only showcases the extensive product range, but also contributes to the overall atmosphere.

The curved counter forms a central element in the shop and helps guide the flow through the space.

Several seating areas have also been created, allowing retail and hospitality to come together naturally.

Playing with materials and shapes

Warm wood tones are combined with microcement and different types of tiles throughout the interior.

The curved counter is finished with narrow KitKat tiles and features a stone countertop. A distinctive tile on the fireplace surround adds its own accent.

It is precisely the combination of materials, textures and shapes that brings character to the larger premises. A new shop that is different from the previous one, yet still feels unmistakably Charlots.

And those who take a seat by the window get something extra: a view of the church in Hilvarenbeek.

From the initial Redie design and technical development to production and installation, the complete interior was realized by Redie.
