New school year, plenty of hands-on learning

The new school year has started. At Redie Interieurs in Oirschot, that also means plenty of hands-on learning.

This school year, we are supporting five students who are training to become furniture makers or interior builders. From level 1 through to level 4 and through different learning pathways, including BOL and BBL. They are studying at Yonder, Summa College, BOS MTI and Koning Willem I College.

Pim, Toon and Nard are starting at Redie this school year. Mieke and Dani are continuing their training with us. This means we now have five students at different stages of their education working in our workshop.

Learning at school and in practice

Education and workplace learning complement each other. At school, students develop their professional knowledge and skills through both theoretical and practical lessons. At Redie, they apply this knowledge to real interior projects and continue to build their experience.

They learn how to process materials, work with modern computer-controlled machinery and hand tools, and build furniture and interior components from technical drawings. From sawing, edge banding and milling to pre-assembly and preparing for on-site installation.

They work alongside experienced colleagues. This brings together what they learn during their education with the day-to-day practice of interior construction.

Learning in work preparation too

Development at Redie does not only take place in the workshop. Lotte and Lieke started in our work preparation department this year. They receive in-house guidance and are learning to work with IRONCAD, the 3D software we use for the technical preparation of our interior projects.

This means learning and knowledge sharing take place across different areas within Redie. From technical preparation to building the interior.
